Natural Disasters & Health
The Human Body & Floods, Hurricanes, Eruptions, Earthquakes, Tornadoes
Natural Disasters & Health (NDH) is a live role-playing adventure, immersing 6th to 8th grade students in simulated disasters. Student emergency teams coordinate disaster response, triage victims, apply knowledge of body systems to apply first aid, and in the emergency room conduct tests to determine what treatment to apply.

This site also houses support curricula on body systems, key resources for students, teachers and parents, and relevant careers information.
Note: These supplemental materials are not required for NDH live simulation participation.

National Disasters and Health Center (NDHC)
is a stand alone component of NDH that also provides powerful extensions to classroom studies of health issues, emergency preparation and natural disasters. NDHC includes a suite of additional information and activities including problem-based learning modules to explore disaster and health examples beyond those in the simulation.
Teachers: Please help us test NDH!
The final step in development of a new educational program is testing to determine how effective it is in improving understanding and awareness of science opportunities. Middle school science teachers are invited to help - click here to sign up. Thanks!
